Invitations and team selection

For those new to the club, and as a reminder to those who don't always reply, here's the process around team selection:

  1. A Lotus Notes meeting invitation is issued, stating the date, time, opponents, location and nature of the next match, several days before the match.
  2. You should reply to the invitation as soon as you can, accepting it or declining it as you see fit.
  3. If you Accept then the match will appear as a meeting in your Notes calendar
  4. Once enough replies are received, we can pick the team from those who have said they are available.
  5. A mail is issued stating the team and any reserves, at least one day before the match.
  6. Note that reserves will be the first people we turn to if there are any call-offs. They are not expected to turn up to matches unless they are keen to umpire, score or partake in hearty cricket banter. A game for the opposition may be a possibility too, as well as some gentle practice.
  7. If, on noting you have been selected to play, something comes up that means you have to call off, please notify us as soon as possible so that we can arrange a replacement.
  8. If you need a lift to a game, can give someone a lift or can take the kit (this will always guarantee selection), then please let us know.
  9. If the weather is poor, do not assume the game is off. Make sure we have your contact details (mobile phone numbers and home e-mail addresses) so that we can get in touch but always assume the game is on. It's bad enough playing in drizzle, but bowling with a wet ball to a 3-3 field because three players haven't turned up is even more annoying!

So, that's the process.
